Martina Stoessel (born March 21, 1997) is an Argentine teen actress and singer. She is best known for portraying Violetta on the Disney Channel television series homonymous.
Early life and career beginnings
She was born on March 21, 1997, daughter of Argentine television producer Alejandro Stoessel and his wife Mariana; has a brother, Francisco.
She began her artistic training at a young age studying voice, piano, musical theater and dance. Her first appearance on television was in 2007 with a minor role in the telenovela Argentina, Patito Feo. Later in 2011, Stoessel participated in the Spanish version of the song Shannon Saunders′ "The Glow", called "Tu resplandor", contained in the recording of the album Disney Princess: Fairy Tale Songs. She also sang this version in the final event of Disney Channel Latin America, Celebratón, on December 31st, 2011. Stoessel was cast in 2011 in the lead role in Disney's musical telenovela Violetta, co-production between Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, 5 in which she plays the character of Violetta Castillo. Stoessel sings the theme song of the series, released on April 5, 2012, and entitled "En Mi Mundo", also sings the Italian version, entitled "Nel mio mondo", and she sings the English version, entitled "In My Own World".
For this role she won an award for "Newcomer" in the 2012 edition of the Kids 'Choice Awards Argentina and was also nominated for the U.S. version, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, in the "Favorite Latin Artist" category, and also lent her voice to some songs from the albums of the series. She also participated in the television programs The U-Mix Show and Disney Planet. In 2013 it was confirmed that she would play the same character in the second season of the telenovela and will star in the play inspired by the series.
- She once did an interview with Bridgit Mendler in English, and in it she said that she likes music and singing and hanging out with her friends, just like Violetta. She had to learn her lines for the interview, since she doesn't actually speak English.
- She has a stunt double named Evelyn Valenttinetti.
